Chandertal Lake

Chandertal Pond is a dreamer’s residence where one can involve in comfort. Situated at an elevation of 4300m in the Himalayas, this lake is part of Lahul and Spiti region of Himachal Pradesh. Chandertal means ‘lake on the moon’ and one can easily see a representation of the celestial satellite developing a figure on the gorgeous lake during nights. This lake is also a favorite identify among trekkers and mountaineers.  Stories declare that Chandertal is the position where Master Indra on his chariot escorted Yudishtra (eldest sibling of the Pandavas) to paradise in his deadly form.

How to Achieve Chandertal Lake:-

The closest airport terminal is situated at Bhuntar near Kullu and Jabbar airport terminal near Shimla. Possible tracks may be either Delhi-Kullu-Manali-Rohtang La-Gramphoo-Chattru-Battal-Chandertal or Delhi-Shimla-Narkanda-Karcham- Nako – Tabo- Kaza – Kunzum la - Chandertal. Nearest train place is at Joginder Nagar train place (50km from Manali). In order to achieve the lake many people have to travel about 8km from Kunzum pass.

Climate:-

Winters are abnormally cool and cold.  Temperatures can touch below -15oC. Summer (April- June) is also cool, but right here we are at trekkers. There is a good venture of raining in the winter periods and also some raining can be experienced in other periods too.
Best A chance to Visit
The best time to see is between July and Oct. The river continues to be freezing on winter periods.
